GRANDIA II HD Remaster Free Download [2023]

GRANDIA II HD Remaster Introduction:

Grandia II, an RPG video game developed by Game Arts, was originally created for the Dreamcast console as part of the Grandia series. It was initially launched in Japan in August 2000 by Game Arts, followed by English releases for North America in December of the same year and Europe in February 2001, both published by Ubi Soft. The game was subsequently ported to the Sony PlayStation 2, with a worldwide release in 2002, and to Microsoft Windows, exclusively in North America and Europe later that year.

In 2015, an enhanced version, Grandia II Anniversary Edition, based on the Dreamcast version, was made available on Steam and GOG.com. Furthermore, a high-definition remaster of the game was released in North America and Europe on August 16, 2019, for the Nintendo Switch, along with an update for the Windows PC Anniversary Edition on October 15, 2019. GungHo Online Entertainment confirmed that a Japanese release of these remasters would follow in the future.

Gameplay:

The game's development involved many of the same team members who worked on the original Grandia, including the music composer Noriyuki Iwadare. However, Grandia II was designed with the intention of creating a more "mature" product compared to its predecessor, and it marked the series' transition to fully three-dimensional graphics.

The game's storyline is set in a fantasy world thousands of years after a destructive battle between Granas, the god of light, and Valmar, the god of darkness, which nearly obliterated the planet. Valmar was subsequently shattered into pieces and scattered across the land. In the aftermath of this conflict, the Church of Granas played a pivotal role in humanity's prosperity by spreading the message of goodness. However, when a young mercenary named Ryudo is tasked with protecting a church songstress named Elena, their journey unravels hidden truths about the church's history and the world itself.

While the original Dreamcast version of the game received positive reviews from critics in Japan and the West, its subsequent ports to the PlayStation 2 and PC were often criticized for technical limitations and faced competition from other high-profile games during that period.

The game's turn-based battle system revolves around the IP gauge, where character icons move across the gauge from left to right. When they reach the action phase, characters select their actions, which are executed when their icons reach the end of the action phase. Movement during battles is limited by an invisible barrier, preventing characters from leaving the arena.

Characters can engage in various actions, such as running, striking opponents, and retreating. The "critical" option allows characters or enemies to strike simultaneously, potentially canceling an opponent's action and delaying it. Choosing "combo" enables characters to land multiple hits on an enemy, with the possibility of increasing the number of hits through accessories. Combos can also "counter" an enemy if they are in an attack pose, dealing additional damage. If the intended target is defeated before the final blow, the character will automatically target the nearest enemy to complete the combo.

Final Words:

Magic in the game is cast using Mana Eggs, which consume MP. More powerful spells have longer casting times. Special moves and spells can be learned using Skills Coins and Magic Coins, with a maximum level of 5. Higher-level spells are more efficient and have shorter casting times. Equipping specific skills can grant characters the ability to cast spells instantly, providing a +100% bonus to the spell's element. Special move sets are acquired through Skill Books and can be equipped to characters. Skills may enhance stats or introduce additional effects, such as increased item drops or the ability to cancel certain spells.

The protagonist, Ryudo, is a Geohound mercenary hired by the Church of Granas to escort Elena, a Songstress of Granas, to Garmia Tower for a ceremony. However, their journey takes an unexpected turn when they discover that Elena is possessed by the Wings of Valmar, one of Valmar's fragments. Ryudo's mission becomes more complex as he confronts the mysteries of the world and the true history of the church.

As the narrative unfolds, Ryudo and his companions encounter various challenges, including battles with powerful foes and the search for the Granasaber, a legendary weapon that can help defeat Valmar. Along the way, they unravel the past and confront personal demons, leading to a deeper understanding of their world and themselves.
